Obituary – Past President – Boggs, Marilyn (Lyn) Jean (nee Webb)

Boggs, Marilyn (Lyn) Jean (nee Webb)

Born  June 4th 1939 in Kentville, Nova Scotia.

Lyn passed away gently in the palliative care unit of the Southampton Ontario Hospital on December 27,2011 after a sudden stroke the previous day.   Her beloved husband of 51 years (G. David “Dave” Boggs) and one of her loving daughters (Susan Boggs Mackintosh) were with her throughout that brief period.  Lyn’s other daughter Lesley Boggs McNutt who lives in Botswana, was with her in spirit and via instant communication.    She was predeceased by her parents Marie Weaver and Richard Webb of Wolfville, N.S and she is survived by her only sibling Judy Bachiu of Woodstock, Ontario.

Lyn graduated from Wolfville High School, attended Acadia University and graduated from University of Western Ontario in 1960.  In her early career she taught high school in Almonte and Brantford, Ontario.  She was an active partner with her husband in a consulting practice serving Provincial and National Parks and subsequently was self-employed in both the graphics and health services fields.

Lyn and Dave have lived in Oakville, ON since 1966 where she was well known and active in the volunteer community.  Of note, Lyn was a member and past president of the University Women’s Club and devoted many happy years to Girl Guiding as a leader.

She was a very proud grandmother.  Zoe, Dee and Euan Mackintosh of Port Elgin, Ontario and Madison and Wilder McNutt of Maun, Botswana were always very near and dear to her heart.  They will miss her presence in their lives, as will her sons-in-law, James Mackintosh and John (Tico) McNutt.

Cremation has taken place.  A reception visitation will be held in Oakville, Ontario at Oakview Funeral Home, 56 Lakeshore Road West, on Wednesday January 4, 2012 from 5-8 pm.

A burial service will take place at the St. John’s Cornwallis, Starr’s Point Cemetery in Kings County Nova Scotia during the summer of 2012.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made through Eagleson Funeral Home to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Oakville Humane Society.    Condolences may be sent by mail to the family or electronically via the www.eaglesonfuneralhome.com
